The Seriousness of the Unbiased Review Site

By Daniel Turbin

Before you open your wallet and spend your hard earned cash on that spiffy new gadget, gadget, or device you have had your eye on for quite some time, it is very important to know what you are purchasing, and make sure it's the right product for you.

This is true irrespective of where you're shopping ( online or off ), but in the case of purchasing something on the internet, it becomes more vital, because you can't really sit right down and test / play with the item in query to be certain. So, all you have to go on are the technical directions of the device , its sales description, and whatever reviews you may be capable of finding.

At this point, most people will be content to depend on whatever buyer reviews are available right there on the site that the product can be ordered from, but I usually counsel taking a rather more wary approach. Not to say that shopper reveiews are not beneficial, and they can certainly be seen as "supporting materials," but there are one or two Problems with client reviews.

First, given that you do not know the people that wrote the reviews you are reading, you do not know if they could have some other axe to grind. Maybe their sister's cousin's lover worked at the company making the product and got fired 2 months ago. In a case like that, the review may have less to do about the quality of the product, and more to do about venting against the company in general.

Or, it could be that some enterprising soul got paid a couple of bucks to pen a glowing review for the product by the company ( it occurs, and more often than you could think ). Maybe that person has actually used the product in query, but more likely she hasn't . They just took the money, spit out a review, and moved onto the following subject.

Naturally, some reviews are created by real, well meaning people, so I'm definitely not suggesting that all consumer reviews are bad. They have their place, but in the final scheme of deciding if a product is best for you, don't rely on strangers you know little about!

That's where pro review sites come into action. An enthusiastic review site will have lots of in depth product reviews, offer up details on the arguments of the product, highlight the good, while not skimping on the details about potential inabilities, and additionally, many of these sites are either public, meaning you can do a "whois" and discover who the owner of the site is, or, they have got a way of contacting the owners with additional questions.

When you initially start visiting a pro review website, if you're not sure, or not completely comfortable, don't hesitate to get in contact with the owners and ask questions! As the owner of lots of websites myself, I'm able to make it plain that I'm always thrilled to hear from folks who've found me on the internet, and more than a few great friendships have started in just that way.

The point is, that by doing this, you'll quickly come to trust the site in query, and when you do, you will have a solid, trustworthy place you can turn to when doing product research before you purchase. Given the number of scam artists operating on the internet today, that is absolutely invaluable!
